My, my, what a beauty! And, hey, need a pair? They're available. Correction, they were available, but they have all been scarfed up! SOLD!! Back in the olden days, B.e. (Before eBay), when I had an Art Deco emporium on Market Street here in San Francisco, a guy from L.A. had been supplying me with fixtures exactly like this. He said they were out of a department store there. Sorta like a "my grandmother" story perhaps. Regardless, they sold like hotcakes, and I sold 39 of the babies over a few years, which put me right down to the last one. Hmmmm, I thought, this is the first time I've ever sold more than one of anything in this crazy business. Why not take the last one -- and here's the dirty word -- REPRODUCE it??? Now this is not something I considered lightly, knowing what a nightmare manufacturing can be. And, I wasn't disappointed, it was worse than a total nightmare!!! But, my pain is your gain, because now it's available to the whole frigging world! Just think, these could be hanging in CHINA, for God's sake!!!
As you see it, it measures about 37 inches long, and the disc is 18 inches in diameter. A great chandelier for your Moderne dining room or entryway! Of course I was painstaking in the design and construction, OCD that I am. The metal discs under the glass disc are 1/4 inch thick chrome-plated steel, and the glass disc is 1/4 inch thick, with a perfectly sand-blasted pattern. The ball underneath is made of lucite, as are the adjustable rings above the socket housing, on the shaft. And, speaking of adjustment, you can order the fixture in any length (a $75 resizing fee applies, you can't imagine the extra work)! I'd recommend that it be no shorter than 24 inches overall, to give the parts some breathing room and keep the proportions nice. It takes a conventional 100-watt-sized bulb, but don't forget that you have metal discs under the glass, so you don't get a lot of direct light. But, what you do get it lots of ambiance, you know that je ne sais quoi thing which gets your guests all excited and jealous when they come over, and wondering how you can be so cool, such the little decorator, and they so stuck in their ways, so pathetically conservative and boring....
