They were imported from Syria (and hence you find this here in the "French Floor Lamps" department -- Syria is right next door to France, huh? ) and found favor in the United States as well as Europe. It obviously was hand-made by Syrian coppersmiths and metalworkers, and openwork and exotic designs abound. This floor model is positively huge, standing 82 inches tall!
