One of a pair of sumptuous French armchairs from the 20's or 30's, just recovered in the finest quality Napa County leather with its "Berry Old English" finish, a complex and dimensional deep maroon color. Each chair weighs 95 pounds, if you're wondering how substantial they are! I purchased them in Lyon, where the dealer starting musing about how he thought "they might have been designed by Andre Sornay..." Alas, when pressed he couldn't offer any documentation to support his fantasies! Perhaps the spare geometry and impeccible proportions reminded him of the Lyonnaise master... maybe, on the other hand, he was just trying to hustle me into the sale...

From the front or the back they're downright sculptural, and they're comfortable as you can imagine a chair might be. Volume-wise, they form a near cube, being 29 inches wide at the front, 30 deep, and 34 high.
